Head Freshman Coach

Joe is returning back to the valley after 14 years teaching and coaching in Bend, OR.  He was raised just down the road in McMinnville where he played football, baseball, and track.  Joe went onto Southern Oregon University where he received his BS in Geology and played on the football team. Go Raiders! After receiving his teaching certificate/Master in Education from Portland State he began his teaching career at Rex Putnam High School.  Joe has been a science teacher for 18 years, and coaching football and track for 20. His last eleven years he taught and coached at Summit High School in Bend. Joe was the head coach of the Summit football program from 2012-2016. During that time; he won a state championship, was two-time IMC Coach of the Year, 5A COY for 2015, and the USA Today Oregon COY for 2015.  Joe likes to spend his free time camping, fishing, working out, and watching a LOT of film during football season!
